HTML ASCII Graphic

Screnshot Long Time ago ASCII-Graphics were popular. This program creates a new form of them: HTML-ASCII Pages which are in color.

This Program is really a simple one. You load an image into program, adjust the size, and then you can crate an HTML-Page of it.

Bigger Images will be resized. You only set the width of the image in Pixels = number of Chars in one line. The height will be calculated to main the aspect ratio.

The HTML-Page is coded in ASCII-Chars, according the the lumination of the pixels and for each char the color is set by font face property.

You can set three Modes:

The Program tries to combine Pixels with the same color, however images with areas which have not the same Color will be very large. The picture above with 150 x 120 Pixels generate a 500k long textfile.

To shrink the image Size you can activate the Color Compression. It will ignore the least n Bits of each Pixel. The number of bits can be adjusted. Every Bit which is ignored reduces the number of recogniced colors by 8. 4 Bits means that the whole color area is reduced from 16,7 Million to 4096 Colors. Up to 4 does not affect the quality of the image. Also you might think about setting the Background in one, monochrome color.
